比翼藝術中心是一個自主經營的非營利性藝術中心，包含著藝術和商業兩個方面在內。中心的宗旨旨在促進上海以及其他地區當代藝術的發展。就如比翼的英文名字“bizart”一樣，比翼的結構包含了商業和藝術兩個方面，同時這個名字也真實地體現了我們的生存狀態。由于我們所有的藝術活動都是非營利的，同時也受到中國國內有關藝術基金的特殊環境的影響，致使比翼必須有自己活躍的商業部分的運作。由于在中國沒有一個公共的基金會給像我們這樣的獨立藝術組織一些支持，所以我們在商業方面的利潤都支持我們去做各種藝術活動，并且保證了我們在本土以及國際藝術世界中的方向。

比翼的藝術家居留項目：在過去的幾年里，比翼接待了許多來自亞洲，歐洲和美洲（北美和南美）的藝術家。過去的三年里比翼也和世界試驗性的藝術家鏈接項目合作，這個項目由英國藝術理事會（ArtCouncilEngland）和英國領事館支持。

在將當代藝術作品帶給觀眾的同時，居留項目也在生產作品的前提下給上海這個創意的城市提供了藝術性的想法和貢獻。國際藝術家在和比翼的合作過程中也增進了自己的專業性和藝術發展，并對這里新的文化，社會和藝術環境做出了反應。

比翼將計劃繼續這個藝術家居留項目并為國際藝術家提供2個月的居留期限，這個項目主要將焦點放在中國之間以及其他東方國家的交流。這個交流項目是比翼指南針項目的其中一部分，其目的在于創造一個亞洲藝術機構，藝術家和策展人之間的網絡，我們將必然的選擇并邀請這些來自亞洲國家和中國各個省的人士。目前，這個項目擁有的是有限的基金由此所能夠提供的服務也是最基礎的。比翼現在正尋找核心的基金為項目將來的正式化和發展做好準備。

指南針項目提供的住宿將用來接待藝術家和文化工作者，并僅僅主要提供給受邀請的中國和亞洲藝術家/策展人。

ArtHub的介紹：關于:ArtHub—支持中國及亞洲其他地區現代藝術創作的非營利機構非常高興在此向您介紹不久前新成立的香港非營利機構ArtHub。成立ArtHub，是為了支持同為非營利藝術機構的比翼藝術中心舉辦各類藝術活動，以此進一步發展中國及亞洲其他地區的當代藝術。

ArtHub于2007年1月在香港地區成立，旨在為支持及亞洲地區的當代藝術創作提供一個實際有效的營運機制。ArtHub背后是一個陣容強大的顧問團，包括40多位著名的藝術專業人士和藝術家。

BizArtisaself-supportedandnot-for-profitartcenterthatcombinesartisticandcommercialpursuitswiththeultimategoalofadvancingcontemporaryartinShanghaiandbeyond.Thename“BizArt”referstoourstraddlingtheduelrolesofbusinessandart,andthe“bizarre”natureofourexistence.

Sinceallofourartisticundertakingsarenot-for-profit,andbecauseofthepeculiarenvironmentinChinaconcerningfundingforthearts,itisessentialthatBizArtisseenasabusinessentityandmaintainsanactivebusinessside.

BecausethereisnopublicfundinginChinaforanindependentorganizationslikeus,allofourbusinessdrivenprofitssupportsourvariousartisticendeavorsandensuresourfutureinthelocalandinternationalartworld.

BizArtArtistinresidencyprogram:Inthepastyears,BizArthostedmanyinternationalartistscomingfromAsia,EuropeandAmerica(bothNorthandSouth).BizArtalsohostedtheworld-widepilotprogramArtistLinks,supportedbyArtCouncilEnglandandBritishCouncilforthelastthreeyears.

Whileexhibitionspresentcontemporaryworktotheaudience,residenciesbringartisticideasoverandcontributetothecreativelifeofShanghaiatthelevelofproduction.InternationalvisitingartistsgainprofessionalandartisticdevelopmentthroughworkingwithBizArtandrespondingtothenewcultural,socialandartisticcontext.

BizArtintendstocarryonthisartist-in-residenceprogramandhostinternationalartistsforuptotwomonths,mainlyfocusingonexchangesbetweenChinaandotherregionoftheFarEast.Thisexchangeproject,partofBizArt’sCompassProject,aimstocreateanetworkthroughoutAsiabetweenartisticorganizations,artistsandcurators.ThosewillbeconsequentiallychosenandinvitedamongAsiancountriesandChineseprovinces.

Atpresent,residencieshavelimitedfundsandservicesareprovidedonanadhocbasis.BizArtcurrentlyseekscorefundsinordertoformalizeandfullyexploitthepossibilitiesforthisprogram.
